About Us

KYUDO ASSOCIATION (SINGAPORE)

Founded in October 2014 as an interest group guided by a simple notion.

“To create a place where Kyudo can be practised regardless of one’s origins.”

Our goals are to introduce the art to people, aim to have a community studying more about Kyudo, and to provide a place to foreign practitioners visiting Singapore.

About Kyudo

Kyudo, which literally means ‘The Way of the Bow’. In the past, the Japanese bow was used for hunting, war, court ceremonies, games, and contests of skill.

Modern Kyudo is  considered the path to mental training or self-improvement.

The essence of modern Kyudo is said to be synonymous with the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.

Kyudo is an ancient spiritual practice that builds a deep connection between the mind and the archer.

Unlike the majority of martial arts, Kyudo embodies serenity and grace and is evident in the way the art is carried out and practiced.

It is an art that benefits the busy people of today by promoting a healthy mind, spirit and body. As the saying goes, “A sound soul dwells within a sound mind and a sound body”.
